ChemBreak – Quantity, Usage & Price
Select the type of ChemBreak based on the air temperature at the time of use. The rock or concrete to be broken must be cooler than the air temperature at the time of use. If the rock or concrete is at a higher temperature ChemBreak will react to this increased temperature resulting in poor performance.
The drilling pattern should be pre-planned, we are happy to assist with this. Holes should be drilled about 6" to 12" apart. All rock dust blown out with compressed air. If the holes are not being filled immediately they should be sealed with plastic tape or plastic cones to prevent rain water accumulating in the holes. We recommend mixing ChemBreak and filling the holes in the morning, before the sun has warmed up the rock or concrete to be broken.
Amount of ChemBreak required: To get the best results hole diameter of 38mm/1½” minimum to 50mm/2" maximum is suggested. For surface boulder and concrete demolition the hole depth should be 80% to 90% of the total. For bedrock the hole depth should be 150mm to 230mm/6” to 9” deeper than the required depth.
Hole Diameter: 38mm / 1½” 45mm / 1¾” 50mm / 2”

Calculate the number of holes and the depth of each hole for a total hole depth in meters or feet for your job. To break 1 large boulder, if you need 6 holes of 5 feet deep, the calculation is:
6 x 5 = 30 ft x 12 = 360” / 39” = 9.3m of hole depth. A 1½” diameter hole will require 9.3 x 4.4 lbs = 41 lbs of material.
